What an incredible Mufti Self Defence Seminar!
What a fantastic turnout for our FREE Mufti Self Defence Seminar! It was amazing to welcome so many new faces into the dojo for their very first class.
A huge thank you to our Tora Kai Karate-Do members who made everyone feel so welcome. Your encouragement and support are what make our dojo such a great place to train.
We kicked off the morning by exploring Itosu’s "The Ten Precepts of Karate" and The Ten Principles of Motobu Chōki before putting those concepts into action through practical self-defence.
The morning included:
Building a strong base and protective frame.
Weight transition and generating power.
Escaping danger and recognising exits—the ultimate goal is always to get home safely.
Pad work and practical striking.
Adapting techniques while wearing everyday clothing.
Zanshin and situational awareness drills.
Fun self-defence scenarios, including weapon defence and ground work!
There were plenty of laughs, lots of learning, new friendships formed, and confidence built.
It was also the perfect way to celebrate Tora Kai Karate-Do’s 2nd Anniversary! Sharing cake, snacks and stories together after training made the day even more special. Thank you to everyone who has supported our club over the past two years—we couldn’t have done it without our incredible dojo family.
What an Incredible Seminar!
A huge thank you to everyone who travelled from far and wide to join us. The energy in the dojo was amazing, and it was an honour to share the love of karate with so many dedicated martial artists.
A sincere thank you to Takafumi Sensei for sharing your knowledge and spirit with us. You are an exceptional instructor and an amazing human being. We are truly grateful to have trained under you.
Thank you to Kancho Lindsay for all of your support over the years and for helping organise such a special day!
Thank you to Yamato Sensei for the fantastic demonstrations and for being uke throughout the seminar.
To all visiting students, you made your Sensei’s proud — your karate was sharp, disciplined and respectful.
And to the Shihan’s and Kyoshi’s who visited our dojo, thank you for your support. Our doors at Tora Kai Karate-do are always open. You are always welcome here.
You are all now part of our legacy and part of our karate family.
